For the attack, Israeli air force jets covered about 2,000 kilometres and used its finest fighter jets and missiles. The air strikes were conducted using fifth generation F-35 Adir fighter jets, F-15I Ra’am ground attack jets, and F-16I Soufa/Sufa air defence jets.

A total of 100 fighter jets carried out the attacks in three waves on 20 missile and drone facilities of Iran. The first wave of attacks was on Iran’s radar and air defence facilities, clearing the path for following strikes on military bases. Iran’s missile and drone facilities were targeted in the second and third wave, according to India Today.

However, Iran has refuted the reports and claimed that the Israeli air strike has failed. According to the Iran, its Bavar-373 and S-300 missile defense systems thwarted the attack. Iran’s IRNA news agency posted a video to sustain the claim as it added that the missiles launched by the IDF were destroyed in the air before they could reach the targets.

Meanwhile, the Iran state television reported that the Air Defense Force confirmed the attack targeting several areas in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam. It said the attack caused “limited damage”.

“Despite warnings from the Islamic Republic, the Zionist regime attacked parts of military facilities in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam this morning in a crackdown that created tensions,” the Air Defense Force said.

The statement further said that the country’s air defense systems successfully intercepted and countered the act of aggression by Israel. Earlier, several Iranian sources said that loud noises were heard around Tehran. These sounds were not made because of the attack but because of the activation of the air defense system.

Israel issued a statement after the attack and said that it had not attacked Iran’s oil or nuclear facilities adding that such a step was taken so that the tension does not increase further. According to the Israeli army, it has accurately attacked the military bases of Iran but there was no information about which targets inside Iran were hit.

A few days back we shared the Iranian arrangement which is said to have the potential to foil any aerial attack. Iran’s secretive air defence system is “Arman” apart from Bavar-373 and S-300 missile defense systems.

Apart from Arman, Iran has other air defence systems that include Bavar 373, Khordad 15, Talaash 4, Kamin-2, also known as Mersad 16, and Zoubin which are said to be highly efficient and effective.
