Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has won hearts with his amazing performances on Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27 at the Delhi concert, “Dil-luminati”, has found himself at the center of controversy following a recent visit to the iconic Bangla Sahib Gurdwara. On Friday night, before the concert, he offered prayers to the almighty. Several videos and images from his Bangla Sahib Gurudwara visit surfaced online. In a video shared by Team Dosanjh on Instagram, Diljit was seen seeking blessings at the Gurudwara. The video was posted with the caption, “Bangla Sahib (folded hands emoji).” While many fans were happy to see him talking blessings, a section of people backlashed him to disregard the strict photography ban enforced within the sacred site.
Many felt that rules should be enforced equally, regardless of a person’s celebrity status. Netizens pointed out the perceived inconsistency in the gurdwara’s management, focusing on that while regular worshippers must strictly follow the rules, celebrities often appear to be given exceptions.
One of the internet users commented, “If rules are so strict in gurdwara, how’s he being recorded? I too am a big fan of Diljit, but we have faced a lot of misbehavior whenever we visit Bangla Sahib.” Another wrote, “Rules and rules and it’s for everyone, be it a celebrity”. The third angr user wrote, “If we use phone to click photos the sevadaars snatch our phones in Bangla sahib but Diljit paaji is a celeb so he is allowed to record video in whole gurudwara???!!!!”
